L.A. Cafe is talked about on the internet as a "normal" bar, but it is the epitome of a "bar girl" bar.  The first time I went to L.A. Cafe, I was there with a girl I had met a few hours earlier.  She wanted to bring me there to show me how the girls reacted to a foreigner.  The only problem with this experience was that I was already with a girl...the girls tend to act a little "different" when you are alone.

My initial observation of the place was that of a typical "hang out" style bar.  In the downstairs area there are non-stop billiard tables running games 24 hours per day.  In addition, the main bar is downstairs.  Upstairs there is an area where a live band will sometimes play.  Normally it is just music that will play upstairs.

The strange thing I noticed on my initial observations...was that the place was 100% filipino girls and 100% non-filipino foreigners.  The girl to guy ratio is about 10 to 1.  But this didn't register fully in my mind until I went there the next day by myself.  Within 30 seconds of arrival, I had three girls talking to me, with 10 more staring in my general direction.  I was meeting a female friend there, so I was "rescued" by her after she arrived late....much to the disappointment of those girls.

So basically L.A. Cafe is a "working girl" bar.  I estimate that 90% of the girls are prostitutes, and only a few are attractive.  There were a strong amount of foreigners there, so L.A. Cafe apparently has a reputation of catering to traveling gentlemen.  None of the "bar fine" rules apply here, and the girls are not supervised by a floor manager.  All of the "working girls" appear to be "independent contractors".  There are a small number of single girls who like to hang out there, so if you don't want to talk to a prostitute, there is a chance, albeit a small one to hook up with a single filipina.

Overall it's a nice place with average prices.  L.A. Cafe is open 24 hours, and it is worth a look as an after-hours bar.  I have a funny story of a prostitute who told me she wanted to get out of the entertainment industry and settle down with a steady boyfriend....a story I'll tell later :)
