So what is the best advice I can recommend to someone who wants to be efficient or is traveling soon? While there is no definitive "one size fits all" answer, there are a few commonly held directives. 1) Travel light: You are going to a third world nation, and therefore a nation that has very low wages, relatively speaking. This results in a higher rate of theft. Therefore it is in your best interests to pack only a weeks worth of clothing, and only the bare essentials. Don't forget that you can wash your clothes at the hotel if you think a week is not enough. Also, the more suitcases you pack, the harder it is to relocate from place to place. This is all well and good if you know exactly where you will stay and for how long. But most of us will change hotels at least twice, as we visit the various cities. I have never heard problems from those individuals who pack only one carry-on suitcase and a travel bag. But I nearly always hear problems from those individuals who bring many suitcases. You need to always keep in mind that you are only asking for negative attention if you appear to be carrying a large amount of "extra" personal property.
